Garage Ideas
The garage is often the most neglected
room in the house. Things pile up. Cars,
bikes, and power tools compete for space.
Fortunately with some good lighting, a little
paint, and a few cool products from the list
below, your garage will be the envy of your
neighbors.
Hands down nothing lights a garage better than a fluorescent light. The fixture of
choice is an industrial eight foot strip light. High output ,preferably, so it can take the
cold weather without buzzing. If the kids play ball in the garage think about getting
one with a lens.
If you plan on heating your garage you have two choices. The first, hot water
baseboard. If you don't have hot water baseboard some where nearby your down to
only one option. An electric garage heater will do the trick. It requires a separate
circuit from the panel. If you have baseboard heat near by check with your plumber
for a hot water version. It might be more practical.
As far as power goes make sure all your garage outlets are of the GFI type. More
than one circuit may be necessary if you run a lot of power tools. Strip outlets are
good near the work bench.
